All one needs to do to read about networking issues with Xbox Live is read complaints on forums, read reviews on websites like IGN, etc. This is not to say that everyone experiences it all the time but it's not a small issue. The issues that Xbox Live has had are very well known and the way Live was set up to work at least in the past is common knowledge among the more hardcore gamers. I've personally had way more issues with PSN than I have with Live. Problem is, it's very difficult to diagnose lag. There are 3 places it can occur: Between your house and your ISP - especially if you're on a crowded cable modem connection, on the server at the company's end - too many p_layer_s, overloaded server, etc. - or someplace on the internet between your ISP and the game server. The first problem can be fixed by getting a different internet connection - which may or may not be doable. The second problem can be fixed by the company, generally by throwing more hardware at the server. However there's little that can be done if the problem lies somewhere on the internet .

XBL. I sold Gears2 quickly because it didn't live up to anywhere near my expectations on how the gameplay and weaponry would advance and how the story would pan out; it was downright awful. The fact that Gears 1 lagged even patch after patch says something. Gears 2 dropped matches and lagged (I gave upother reasons though similar to Gears1 MP, mainly lack of weapons and p_layer_s limits). on it for When did I ever say that WAW was an issue with XBL. I actually stated that it played very smooth and I had no issues in the 20 or so matches I played. But I attribute that to Treyarch being one of the best at MP games (COD3 is testament to that). IW sucks when it comes to MP games as MW had serious issues when it first hit XBL.. I sold WAW because I was bored with WWII weapons and the rank/perk system was burned out in MW.. I can list a few games where I had lag and still have lag, I cannot say it was just the game so I have to say it it could have been any number of things: Perfect Dark Zero, lagged a good deal at first, and still does even though there scant p_layer_s on the game anymore and that game has been patched to death. RSV 1&2 lagged and still lags, and those games have been patched to death The GRAWs lag from time to time and they are patched to death. If you read any of the gaming sites that give info on the patches that come out for 360 games, you'll see they sometimes address lagging. And XBL has a lot to do with that. Remember, MS isn't obligated to make the game work on XBL, so the developer has to make the fix. It's no different than MS not having responsibility for legacy hardware not working Windows iterations, it is the hardware manufacturer's problem. MS simply has to maintain the servers. If they develop the games, then they fix the games obviously. Halo3 lagged quite a fews times, even during mid-morning weekday play when there is hardly anyone on the net. I'm not ripping nor putting down XBL and I think ti is a pretty goos system considering all of those who have sub_script_ions. But to treat it as a saint is just silly. But, it is a known fact that MS dropped the ball when too many subscribers hit the net in the Holiday season of 2007 and it lasted nearly 8 weeks before they got it fixed and there have been several other instances where this happened if even over just a few days time. MS gave people who lost lots of playing time a shitty download game for free to compensate, instead of giving them extended time on their accounts. But to defend XBL the way you are now, nearly throwing tantrums on your keyboard as you type, reminds me of some guys I know who are product loyalists. No matter how many times their preferred brand has faults, they defend it like their home is being invaded; it's really funny, but also sad at times. Well simply because you said Gears2 lagged allot and you have another post here saying you didn't even try Gears2 multip_layer_. Which is it? Which post is true? The one where you say Gears2 lags? Or the one where you say you 'didn't bother with Gears2 multip_layer_ ? Live isn't the laggy service you and your pal claim it to be and if you look at allot of your posts they contradict each other, which leads me to believe your just closet trolls in sheep's clothing. Sure MS had problems with an unexpected turnout of Live subscribers in late 07, but the OP , I'm talking about LIVE today in 2009 complete with a brand new operating system and better server support. I'm just stating the facts of my experiences with the service. Yet when you look at your posts , you have them contradicting each other ,one says you didn't bother with Gears2 MP and another just here recently says how laggy Gears2 is _base_d on your experience with the MP. I know LIVE wasn't perfect in 2005 with Perfect Dark , but damn man its frikken 2009 already . This is a quote from you : Tom wrote : I didn't ever bother with the MP mode in Gears2 and after playing to almost the end of the campaign, I just got sick of the same thing as the first game and sold it. . Mar 09 -Tom Another quote from Tom the MP expert: Tom wrote : Gears 2 dropped matches and lagged (I gave upother reasons though similar to Gears1 MP, mainly lack of weapons and p_layer_s limits). July 09 -Tom so did ya buy another copy of Gears2, and play the MP 4 months after you sold your 1st copy. Face it your a closet troll Tom ,and before you go spouting I'm some Xbot , well look at the _title_ of the group , I'm gonna talk about Xbox, but I'm not gonna lie and flame the group with false accusations and false game experiences like you cleary have. http://groups.google.com/group/alt.games.video.xbox/browse_thread/thr...

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.games.video.xbox/browse_thread/thr... Defend the other games I listed. In fact, last early Friday morning (around 4 AM) I was playing GRAW2 MP campaign mode and the match dropped with just 10 people in. This happened a few times during the night. I was even playing the first RSV and the match got dropped three times. Is it XBL?, who knows what it was, that I actually see this still happening from time to time doesn't make it a lie because your feelings are hurts that your XBL god, cannot live up to what your expectations of what you want everyone to say about XBL. Are you going to dispute the other games I listed and probably many others that I didn't list? Are you going to say that nearly 10s of thousands of XBL gamers lied with their nearly 8 week long 2007 holiday XBL crash experience? You want a forum where everyone agrees with you and supports your exact thinking, set up your own hosted group moderated by you and see what results you get. There's only a few people here I trust when they give opinions (almighty, Nick Soapdish and Boodybandit) and they don't give some biased crap while wearing rose colored glasses. We don't always agree (you can read especailly my post to almighty from time to time). WTF sense does it make to come here and just agree for keeping someone to keep them happy for their sake, while it denies the reality of a particular discussion. There are many times where you make great posts, then this stuff comes out. You obviously are a gamer and you know the games, you just can't differentiate between reality and favoritism.

An all new MMORPG, such as the ones being developed for the PS3, or FFXIV, could bring MMOs to the console world. ?What would be interesting is if you had an MMO you could play from multiple platforms - PC, PS3, 360, etc. - and play the same servers. You could, but nobody will because the hardware manufacturers wouldn't go for it. Hell, they won't even let people playing say COD:MW on PCs game with 360 and PS3 peeps. This still doesn't make sense to me. It would seem to me that allowing people to play on the same servers regardless of the platform would be a big selling point. Just think of the revenues spawned by the fanboi wars alone! Anyways, the developers have made excuses in the past about why this isn't possible...but honestly I think it's just laziness. I agree with you to a degree. There should be compatibility between the Xbox 360 and PC versions as the architectures are very similar and the development technologies are almost identical. Compatibility with the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 and Wii versions of a game would be difficult, though, since the architectures are so vastly different on those. Plus, developers don't really have a whole lot of incentive to do this and would be under vast amounts of pressure from the hardware manufacturers to not allow this. It's not what's best for the consumers but when was that a consideration?
