Vinay: I'm sold on building an insulation board hexayurt for this year's 2009 BurningMan festival.  Last year was my first at BurningMan and I visited several of the Hexayurt structures out on the Play. They seemed way better than the tent I inhabited, particularly considering the dust that came in through my tent's mesh windows! Trouble is, no Thermax HD available anywhere near me in San Francisco. RMAX is readily available locally but I've been concerned about the fire danger. (As posted in the Hexayurt safety information.) I've checked as far away as Sacramento, CA for Thermax HD and a big supplier of insulation board there says DOW requires that an entire truckload be ordered to supply the material.) What alternate material would be appropriate?  I've been reviewing all the videos and forums on the web, (including a good one at burningman.com) but the material problem remains. I am concerned that cardboard wouldn't hold up to the punishment at BurningMan. Your thoughts?  Many thanks for your inspirational ideas on this shelter. Doug Kern San Francisco

Weyerhaeuser makes an instant emergency shelter, intended for third world disasters, out of triple-wall cardboard.  I haven't purchased one yet (~$400 allegedly, but you can usually only buy them in huge quantities).  Thinner cardboard gets hot in the sun, I don't know how the triple-wall does. The wind has another nasty effect during installation. It blows your panels across the playa if they aren't weighed down.  I lost a door that way
