Hardware wise, a compass would come in handy for me as well as the new CPU/graphics, and perhaps also the 3GS's screen. Software wise I'd want full access to the bluetooth chip, including being able to tether it to my phone. It's not that much of a difference not enough to want to make me upgrade anyway. If I had one I wouldn't too. However looking at the 3GS I'm definitely not going to buy a current gen iTouch any time soon either. I expected them to release a new ipod touch maybe they are saving that announcement

Did the first level last night. It simultaneously manages to be big, bold, gorgeous, exhilirating and completely and utterly underwhelming. I have no idea how. It has everything it needs to be a great FPS, it just isn't clicking for me. Because it plays EXACTLY like CoD? Despite the fact its set in the future, none of the guns are futuristic, the enemies are like Nazi's with glowing red eyes and the storyline is instantly forgettable. I've stuck with it until the 5th Mission, and its a tiny bit better, but there's nothing worth sticking with as far as I can see. It even has the cheap respawn enemies just out of site trick, which I really, REALLY hate. The COD thing certainly struck me straight away. It's ok, but its problem seems to me that it's just lacking any kind of personality whatsoever. Compared to Halo, Half-Life, Quake and Left 4 Dead it just feels dead inside. I don't really know how to word it. It has that same bad quality as Forza 2, it feels like it was designed by a publisher commitee and not the developers, where a guy in a suit oversaw the whole project whilst holding a clipboard checking boxes on a sheet that said things needed to make a good FPS as development progressed. It certainly suffers under inspection but I enjoyed it for what it was. The last half of the game is markedly better than the first half and IMO, there's nothing that comes close to it graphically. I think the game design itself was a little compromised because of the pressure they were under to provide a graphical tour de force. It wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't also responsible for some of the ommissions that the reviewers picked up on, like the lack of co-op. Although saying that, the online game is every bit as developed as COD4. It's an 8/10 game that gets beaten down because everyone was expecting a 10/10 game and didn't get it. It's still very enjoyable and well worth playing.

To me it's on a par with Gears 2 and Heavenly Sword, nowhere near as good as what I've seen of Uncharted 2 and doesn't even come close to Crysis. The first level of Resistance 2 was far more enjoyable for me.

I don't agree that Gears 2 looks as good, but then they differ greatly in _style_. Most of the best looking bits in Gears 2 (like the finale when you jngpu gur ynzorag oehznx rkcybqr) are all just pre- rendered. You've also not yet seen the best bits of KZ2. I enjoyed Resistance 2's single p_layer_ much more than I did KZ2; I much prefer insomniac's take on level design.

Bin Mario Kart DS I was playing this over the weekend in multip_layer_ against my 12yr old niece. Imagine my surprise when she asked me what my character emblem was supposed to be, prompting me to realise that the last time I played MKDS was about a year ago, and I had not changed my emblem since then. You know the first thing that everyone draws in Picto Chat? :-/

Want iPhone - I dream about owning one of these every single night. No joke. Have done for nearly a week. How fucking shallow am I? Anyway, I'm not getting one. Not only can I not afford one, but I refuse to give in to my brain on this. My Palm TX died over the weekend so I briefly flirted with the idea of getting one of these. Then I realised that it was £350 for the basic model. I'll be getting a replacement TX from ebay for £80 instead I think.
